Marketing and Outreach Project Manager All of Us Research Program

San Diego Blood Bank is serving as a collection and recruitment partner with The Scripps Research Institute and several other national partners on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) research program called All of Us. The All of Us Research Program is a historic effort to gather data from one million or more people living in the United States to accelerate research and improve health. By taking into account individual different in lifestyle, environment, and biology, researchers will uncover paths toward delivering precision medicine.


The Marketing and Outreach Project Manager will be responsible for approved local recruitment efforts, supporting the roll out of other blood banks across the country as collection and recruitment sites. This position will identify opportunities in Southern California to spread the word about the program in order to build awareness and interest. This includes outreach to SDBB donor database as well as community relations activities. 


Essential Duties:

  • Serve as project manager for marketing activities intended to attract participants to the All of Us Research Program.
  • Manage and execute on all moving parts related to community outreach, events, donor outreach, email, website, and print collateral, ensuring that grant protocols are followed.
  • Build and execute recruitment plans to ensure that enrollment goals are met in collaboration with The Participant Center (Scripps Research Institute)
  • Act as main point of contact for The Participant Center for all recruitment activities
  • Establish relationships with local National Blood Collaborative sites to initiate and sustain marketing and outreach/recruitment efforts for the All of Us Program
  • Manage the production of collateral (print and digital) for recruitment and ensure collateral follows approved guidelines. Ensure content stays up to date as changes are made by the NIH.
  • Ensure that SDBB staff are aware and properly trained to answer questions regarding marketing collateral, ensuring that approved guidelines are followed. Ensure that front-line staff are aware of recruitment protocol changes.
  • Manage email communication and follow-up for recruitment, scheduling and engagement, based on approved guidelines.
  • Manage measurement of recruitment activities and ensure a diverse audience is reached
  • Ensure approved communication protocol is followed and that partners are made aware of changes in protocols.
  • Ensure that partners have proper collateral and support for recruitment.
  • Manage scheduling of participants
  • Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Education: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication or business


Experience:  Minimum 3 years in a project management, account management or related marketing role


Critical Competencies:

  • Experience and understanding of project or account management required
  • Strong fundamentals in marketing and recruitment strategies
  • Experience in Adobe suite and content management systems preferred.
  • Experience in measuring marketing activities preferred.
  • Attention to detail is a must.


Working Environment:

  • Normal office environment.


Physical Requirements:

  • Light to medium lifting required, seeking assistance and using provided equipment, such as cart, lift gate, etc., when necessary / indicated.
  • Must be able to work on a computer 4 8 hours a day.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly.
  • Some travel required
