Job Summary

  • Performs essential laboratory responsibilities according to established procedures.
  • Assists in training new personnel and other staff members.
  • Supports the SDBB safety, GMP and Quality Plan. Adheres to GMP guidelines.
  • Assists in the care, maintenance and quality control of equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains department records, reports and statistical data as required.
  • Assists in developing new lab processes and procedures.
  • Assists with laboratory quality and variance programs.
  • Participates in department meetings and educational programs.

Quality Control Laboratory Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Perform equipment QC
  • Obtain samples for product QC
  • Perform donor and product QC evaluations
  • Perform sterility testing, cell counts, pH analysis
  • Evaluate, gather data, trend and assess results
  • Statistics management, tracking and trending QC results
  • Assist with validations and new process development
  • Assist with controlled document writing and revisions
  • Oversee quarantine / disposition process and quality incident reporting
  • Investigate, review and troubleshoot problems

Working Environment

  • Normal laboratory environment with biohazard precautions.
  • May be exposed to blood or bodily fluids that may be capable of transmitting diseases.
  • May be exposed to chemicals that may be hazardous.
  • May be called on to work or attend meetings at other than routinely scheduled hours.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand or sit long hours.
  • Must be able to work on a computer 4 8 hours a day.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly.
  • May be required to lift up to 40 pounds.

Equipment Used

  • General Laboratory equipment (examples include but are not limited to: centrifuges, heat sealer, sterile docking device, refrigerators/freezers, sterile hood, cell counter, etc.)
  • Blood Establishment Computer System (BECS)

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required

Experience:


  • New Hires: Educational requirements required
  • Current Staff: Required skills for level and designated years of experience
